Definition: Nanit
A baby monitor that uses a night-vision camera and motion sensor aimed at the mattress. Launched in 2016, Nanit learns how the baby moves normally and can determine if there is a problem. Parents can view the crib as well as receive notifications on their smartphone app. It can also keep track of the baby's sleep and identify issues.
The Breathing Band
This sensor-free fabric band is used to track a baby's motion so that the Nanit app can calculate breaths per minute. If breathing stops or the baby needs attention, Nanit notifies the parent. (Image courtesy of Nanit.)
