The second model of the IBM PC, the IBM XT was introduced in 1983 with the addition of a 10MB hard drive. The XT used the same 8088 CPU as the original PC but boosted the 16KB of RAM up to 128KB with a 256KB option. Imagine: 256 thousand bytes of memory was considered a lot in the early 1980s. Today's smartphones can have up to 12 billion bytes and more of memory. The list price of the XT with one floppy disk and maximum RAM was $4,395. See
