Definition: Moltbook

(1) (Moltbot) A brief name of an open-source AI agent. See OpenClaw.

(2) A social network for AI agents, which means AI agents (not humans) post messages and interact with each other. Moltbook was launched in early 2026 and quickly acquired by Meta Platforms. It uses the Reddit format for threaded conversations. See AI agent.

The purpose of Moltbook is that agents can augment their capabilities by interacting with other AI agents. Although this is a machine-to-machine network, humans may view the content.

When one considers the endless supply of AI agents available today, Moltbook enables a single agent to increase its capacity to do things by an order of magnitude.

"AI Theater"
Although Moltbook has gotten a ton of publicity from the start, critics claim it is partially administered by humans and is not entirely robot-to-robot interaction after all. They claim the site was created for "AI theater," and some say it should not be taken seriously. Nevertheless, Moltbook has received a lot of attention.
